About Shapefront
Shapefront is a free browser strategy game about out-thinking your opponent instead of out-clicking them. You pick a shape, program how your army fights with drag-and-drop blocks, and conquer a rotating globe one territory at a time.
Why we made it
Most strategy games reward fast hands. We wanted one that rewards a good plan. In Shapefront you can't steer a single unit once a battle starts. Every decision your army makes comes from the strategies you wrote beforehand, such as charge the weakest, hold the line or fall back when hurt. Losing tells you something about your plan, and fixing it feels like solving a puzzle.
The building blocks are deliberately simple: three shapes that counter each other like rock-paper-scissors, and a block editor that anyone can use without writing code. The depth comes from how those pieces combine. That includes mixed armies, leveled-up strategies, relics, rival factions that wage their own wars, and worlds that keep getting harder.
What's in the game
- A living campaign. Three enemy factions, The Iron Pact, Crimson Swarm and Ghost Circuit, reinforce, counterattack and fight each other while you expand.
- Visual programming. A Scratch-style block editor with movement, targeting, sensing and control blocks. Equip up to four strategies at once.
- Deterministic battles. The same armies and programs always give the same result. There are no hidden dice.
- Endless progression. Conquer a world, warp to a harder one, unlock Legendary commands and climb from Point to Singularity.
- Asynchronous multiplayer. Pit your programmed army against other players' loadouts on a ranked ladder.
- Plays anywhere. It runs in any modern browser on desktop or mobile, with light and dark themes. Your single-player progress is saved in your own browser, and no account is needed.
